Today is a very exciting day, the weather is hot and sunny, and we just received a delivery of new RICE products, from their lovely two-tone cup collection. These cups are beautifully printed in bright colors on the inside, and a different color on the outside, with a pretty floral motif, or something classic, like the Casablanca print, or even something quirky, like the stylized hens print. Or the flamingo print cups, they're fabulous!
Melamine cups by RICE - colorful, durable, fun
We love the joyful mood these cups add to every table dressing, they put a smile on your face and a fuzzy-warm feeling on the inside. Unless it's the warm weather that makes you feel that way, in which case these cups are great too, because you can put something delicious and refreshing inside.
Like frozen lemonade (we have a soft spot for frozen lemonade). Unless you prefer something else of course, like a nice tea, or a cappuccino. Or even a tasty cocktail (Caipirinhas anyone?).
That's the great thing about these RICE cups, they're suitable for hot and cold beverages, and are great for use indoor and outdoors. Because they're made from melamine, they don't break as easily as glass cups would, and unlike plastic, they're completely BPA-free. No health-risks other than enjoying too many good drinks with friends and family. Good mood and laughter are almost guaranteed with these colorful cups.
BPA-free and dishwasher safe
What we also love about RICE products is that they are dishwasher safe, so no tedious hand-washing like so often required with other colorful housewares. No, just put them on the top-shelf of your dishwasher, and done!
And the best part is, if you put these pretty cups on display in open cabinets or shelves, you have little pieces of colorful art for your kitchen! To quote Charlotte Hedeman Gunéniau, the lead designer and founder of RICE, "if you've got it, flaunt it, at least when it comes to beautiful, colorful kitchenware".
In case we tempted you into wanting a frozen lemonade too, like right now, here's a delicious and quick recipe for you:
Frozen lemonade (serves 8)
- 1 lemon cut into thin slices
- fine sugar (1⅔ cups)
- lemon juice (1¼ cups)
- cold water (3 cups)
- ice cubes (4 cups)
Combine the sugar and the lemon slices in a bowl, and mash with a muddler or wooden spoon. Add the water and the lemon juice, and let the mixture stand for about five minutes, occasionally stirring the blend. Strain, and then puree half of the mixture with 4 cups of ice cubes in a blender until smooth. Pour into 4 chilled glasses, repeat for second servings.
Practical tip: if you have a fridge that makes crushed ice, use that instead of cubes for a smoother result.
